AROC Sport originated as an Adventure racing company. Between 2003 and 2011 AROC Sport organised more than 50 Adventure races in Canberra, Sydney, The Victorian Alps, and various locations along the NSW Central and South Coasts. Race formats included the following:

Adventure races usually involve teams of 2 to 4 people navigating with a map and compass through various checkpoints by multiple disciplines. Events involve any type of self propelled activity from mountain biking to skiing, from trekking to abseiling, from kayaking to horse riding, from coasteering to in-line skating. Races can vary in length – anywhere between a short course of 2 or 3 hours to an expedition length race of up to 10 days.

AROC Sport adventure races involve teams of three and always include challenging navigation using good quality maps. Locations are chosen to allow for great views, good off track navigation, out of the ordinary challenges and quality headquarters.

What we love about adventure racing is that for success, a team doesn’t just need to be fit. Success in adventure racing requires resilience, perseverance, teamwork, adaptability, navigational skills, stamina, patience and strategy. Most importantly, adventure racing is about having fun with friends, thriving in our amazing wilderness or taming the urban environment. Adventure racing condenses a myriad of lifetime experiences into a very short period of time. It forces you into the present moment. So put some adventure into your life…

At every event we learned something new, improved our performance in some way, had a great time and strengthened our friendship. Monica Lindemann, Team Mixed Nuts
